Made with calendula tea instead of water and with a tablespoon or two of calendula petals added before moulding.
I now have a source of local grass-fed beef tallow (my local farm shop) so this recipe makes good use of that. I rendered the tallow myself in a crock-pot/slow-cooker and it produced a clean smelling pure-white block once cooled. There are lots of ‘how to’ guides on the web for rendering beef tallow like this one. It’s really easy though – all I did was chop it up, shove it in the slow cooker on low setting overnight, then strain it through muslin into containers before cooling. I did this in the garage, I’m sure the whole house would have smelled of rendering beef tallow otherwise and I would be unpopular.
FRANK is also packed with superb nourishing oils (avocado and hemp), made with calendula tea and whole calendula petals – sometimes known as field marigold or pot marigold, and finished with frankincense essential oil. I took the soap out of the mould after about 24 hours and it looked and smelled great already.
This produced some really luxurious soap.
